The 1953 death of Bertram Warren was ruled an accident, but Detective Jerry Keating believed Bertram was murdered by his young wife, Cora. He also believed that their daughter, ten-year-old Meghan, saw what happened. When Jerry tried to question the girl, her mother called the chief of police, and they told Jerry to back off.
Some sixty years later, Cora dies, and she leaves her house on the shore to her only living relative, a young woman named Mariah Kimball. Mariah has never heard of Cora Warren and refuses to believe it when she learns that Cora was her biological great-grandmother. After her mother confirms it’s true, Mariah takes the news hard, but eventually chooses to accept Cora’s bequest.
On her first day at the house, Mariah is startled to find that the former residents of the house - Kathleen, Meghan, and Cora Warren - randomly appear to relive critical moments in their lives. Through these vignettes Mariah comes to know her mother Kathleen, her grandmother Meghan, and her great-grandmother Cora.
Mariah is also visited by a mysterious detective who comes to her door asking for Meghan. Mariah explains that Meghan is dead and has been for thirty years, but the detective continues to show up every day looking for Meghan.
As Mariah tries to get her own life together, she also finds herself pulled into the Warren family drama. She discovers that Cora’s caustic mothering drove Meghan to drugs and kept Kathleen from having a life of her own. But she also finds herself intrigued by the mysterious detective and his quest to learn the truth about Bertram Warren’s death.
Did Cora kill her husband? Only the dead know for sure

The premise of this short work had some real promise but went astray. First, I noticed a proofreading error early in the book; "where" was used instead of "were" but one error in a self-published novel is minor. Then, the writer started to make some major errors; for example, mixing up the names of the characters; for example, the writer would start describing a conversation between Jerry and Miranda then suddenly would start using the name Sam instead of Jerry. This happened in several spots. For a while, I thought perhaps there was a point in doing this, but when I reached the end, I realized that was not the case. Also the ending was abrupt and weak. Miranda is attracted to Jerry's spirit(?) because the man is actually in his 90's. Then after Jerry dies, his grandson who looks just like Jerry seeks her out. Immediately, the book ends. Not a fan.Product details

The House on the Shore A Short Paranormal Mystery eBook A L Jambor Reviews
Although short, this is a pleasant read. I cared about the main character and rooted for her. It's so short I don't want to give anything away other than to say read it.
The mystery has you hooked right from the get go. Loved how there were two types of ghosts. But would have like some bits of the more traditional type....bumps in the night
I enjoyed the book. The only reason I gave it a four is because of the abrupt ending. I also read The Room In Grandma's House by this author. I enjoyed that too, but again, the ending wasn't developed. I'd recommend both books, they're an easy read.
I enjoyed this book very much. Great story, and the character of Jerry visiting was an interesting part. I feel it was a story more than a book and could have been longer, but since the questions were answered, the story was over. I would like to know what happens to Mariah. One thing that should corrected, is that Jerry and Sam's names are switched up a few times during a visit at the house and at the hospice.
No offense but, in my opinion (and we're all entitled to those), boooooring. Seriously one of the most boring books ever. (Of course, at least she writes...all I ever do is wish I could.)
This, however, was so...deflated balloon...and short. So short in fact, that it could possibly be that she just wrote too long of a description for the jacket and decided to publish it. -O_o-
I feel so rude. I am giving her another try with another of her works.
Finger crossed!
An interesting story which I enjoyed. It could, however benefit from some proofreading. There are quite a few errors, extra words and so forth. There is also a fairly glaring math error that interrupted the flow of the story for me. I feel like this is an outline of a more complete work and could really be filled in to make it a more satisfying read.
This one is a little different. A young woman uncovers the truth about her real family in a bit of an unorthodox way. The ghosts in the family home she inherited show her both her origins and show her the clues to solve a forty year old murder. Not your normal cozy fair.
This is a quick read as it is a novella. There is some padding to the page count from a sample of another book.
This is one to read in a single sitting.
